Finlandia Skiing Event is the largest mass skiing event in Finland. The first Finlandia Skiing Event took place in 1974 when the skiers travelled 75 kilometres from Hämeenlinna to Lahti. In 1982, there were over 10 000 participants. Since 1986, the skiers have also been allowed to ski skate-style.   Finlandia Mountain Biking was added to the Finlandia product family in 1995. In 2000, the route was permanently changed to go from Lahti to Hollola and back.   Nowadays, the participants can choose from two trip lengths: 62 km and 32 km.
